About the Destination:   

Nestled high up in the majestic Himalayan Mountains, in the Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh, is the breathtakingly beautiful lake, Chandrataal. Situated at an altitude of 14,100ft, this ‘Lake of the Moon’ as it is popularly called, is a favourite among trekkers and campers. This crescent shaped water body has no visible source and water gets filled from underground.

The banks of this  mesmerising lake, which is situated on the Samudra Tapu plateau, gets blanketed by colourful wild flowers during summer, which makes it looks like a scene straight out of paradise.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Arrive in Patlikuhl, Drive from Patlikuhl to Naggar, Trek from Naggar to Rumsu

    Scenic Drives, Easy Trek, Gowri Shankar Temple Castle Fort, Tripura Sundari Temple, Roerich Art Gallery

    Your adventure on this jeep safari to Chandrataal lake trip begins from Patlikuhl, from where you will be driven to Naggar, located 5km away. Proceed towards Rumsu on a trek which is both exciting and enlightening. Stop and marvel at the beautiful 11th century Gowri Shankar temple on the way, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

    Explore the old Castle Fort, a majestic medieval building and other beautiful pahadi style temples like the Tripura Sundari Temple. Drop in at the famous Roerich art gallery, before you check into the charming resort at Rumsu for the night.

  • Day 2 - Trek from Rumsu to Chadrataal

    Chandrataal Lake, Lakeside Camping, Bonfire Night

    Rise today in anticipation of the gorgeous day that awaits you on this jeep safari to Chandrataal Lake! Relish on a delicious breakfast and head towards the famous Chandrataal lake. This gorgeous lake which lies between the lower and higher crest of Kunzum Range, will surely take your breath away.

    Feast your eyes on nature’s exquisite masterpiece, as you camp along the beautiful banks of this lake. The leafy green meadows and beautiful flowers make camping in this dreamland a memorable experience. You can either go hiking or spend time relaxing and enjoying nature in all her glory. Spend a memorable night in this perfect setting enjoying dinner in the company of a bonfire and stay overnight in tents.

  • Day 3 - Trek from Chandrataal to Rumsu

    7-8 Hours Trek, Sunrise Vistas, Rumsu,

    Wake up to a surreal and breathtaking sunrise by the lake and enjoy a relaxing breakfast by the banks of the lake. Then it’s time to take the trek back to Rumsu which will take around 7 to 8 hours. Packed lunch will be provided on the way.Stay overnight at Rumsu.

  • Day 4 - Departure from Rumsu

    Day at Leisure in Rumsu, Pulag, Chichogi, Trek Ends Here

    After breakfast at the resort, indulge in some local sightseeing. Explore charming villages of Pulag and Chichogi and get a taste of village life. After a wholesome lunch, it is time to head back to your destination, taking with you lovely memories of the jeep safari to Chandrataal lake and of time spent in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
