The Jalsu Pass trek is a beautiful low height pass in the Dhauladhar ranges that connects the Kangra and Chamba Valley. The area abounds in natural beauty and exquisite views. The Pass is also home to some of the most ancient tribal villages of the Chamba Valley. There are ancient temples and beautiful green pastures, serene meadows and a wide variety of flora and fauna. The villages and the breathtaking scenery are the highlights of the trek. This is one of the best treks in the region to bring avid trekkers face-to-face with the glistening lofty peaks of the mighty Himalayas.

The Jalsu Pass trek starts from Talai which is approximately 5 km from the Hydro Project. The Pass from Talai to Parai via Kothru is almost 5 to 6 hours of walk. It is a low height pass of the Dhauladhar range that connects Kangra Valley to the upper Ravi valley. This trek starts from Bharmour and includes several surprising regions like Suri, Yara Goth, Utrala, and of course Jalsu Pass.

As a part of daily hygiene protocol, proper care of hygiene and sanitation is maintained all through to ensure the utmost care and personal safety of the guests.

Jalsu Pass Trek Itinerary

Day 1
Day 1:Trek from Palampur to Paprola

The trek starts from Talai which is almost 5 km from the Hydro Project.

Pass from Talai to Parai via kothru is almost 5 to 6 hrs walk.

Day 2
Day 2: Trek from Parai to Jalsu

Starting early in the morning and climb towards Kharli. 

Then hike from Kharli to Jalsu Pass.

Day 3
Day 3: Trek from Jalsu gote to surai village

The trek descends from Jalsu gote via Yara gote to Surai village.

Overnight stay in tents.

Day 4
Day 4:Trek from Surai village to Nayagaon

It takes almost 3 to 4 hrs to reach Nayagaon via Laka Mata.

The trek ends at Laka Mata temple.

Ride a taxi to Chamba.

Know Before You Go for Jalsu Pass Trek

  • The trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering the local sites or campsites. Travelers littering may be fined.
  • Water is very precious, so conservation is appreciated.
  • Do not encourage trekking during the night unless it is a part of the itinerary and a guide is with you; this might lead to unforeseen mishaps.
  • Avoid using earphones during the trek; this might hinder your audibility.

  • Camping is very basic in nature. One must not expect luxuries. Electricity may be available only at a few locations.
  • Mobile & laptop charging points may/may not be available on campsites at a common point.
  • Any personal expenses, items of personal nature, meals not mentioned, etc. will not be in part of the package.
  • Carry dry snacks/food from home (you will save a lot of money). Carry water bottles with you, so that you can refill.
  • Keep your luggage minimum; the more you carry, the more you hassle.
  • Children below the age of 7 years are not recommended for trek.
  • It is recommended to carry enough warm clothes and the right kind of shoes for the Jalsu Pass trek.
