Take an insightful eco-tour around the island of Villimalé in the Maldives and get a firsthand experience of the transformation of the island's rich biodiversity. Meet a member of the "Save the Beach" NGO, who will show you images of Villimalé's past as you witness the present. Certified divers can get a chance to snorkel or dive in the coral nursery maintained by Save the beach. Complement your trip with a refreshing cup of local tea and traditional hedhika sweet.
About the Activity:
- Arrive at the starting location before the scheduled time and get ready for an eco-tour of the beautiful island of Villimalé.
- Take a short 10-minute ferry crossing from the hubbub of Malé city to the island of Villimalé.
- Meet a member of the "Save the Beach" NGO who will take you on a 60-minute walking tour of the Villingili (now named Villimalé) island and give insights into the conservational challenges faced by the locals there.
- Learn about the unique Maldivian ecosystem and the sustainable measures undertaken by locals on the island.
- Next, visit the local dive school and meet the special team that supports the reef conservation efforts.
- Certified divers can experience snorkelling or diving in the coral nursery maintained by Save the beach.
- Visit the local tea shop between 3:00-5:00 PM, where you can taste the traditional hedhika sweet and other savoury snacks served with black tea.

- By Walk: The meeting location is Jetty 5 Malé, which is approximately 850 meters away from the capital city, Malé. It will take you nearly 10-15 minutes to walk up to the location from Malé.
