Ooty Lake

Ooty Lake is one of the most sparkling lakes in Ooty,
which was artificially constructed in 1823 and covers an area of 65 acres, as
of today. Eucalyptus grooves around the Lake lend
enchantment to the view. Nilgiri mountain railway line, which runs along one of
the lake’s bank, adds charm to the surroundings.

Corporation (TTDC) run Boathouse offers activities such as Paddleboats, Rowboats, and Motorboats. Boat races and boat pageantry
are held every summer during the month of May, for a couple of days.
A
mini-train, an amusement park, and a garden are the other notable features of
the boathouse that enthrall the visitors. The TTDC also runs a canteen. The
pony rides in front of the boathouse allure the children.

Emerald Lake

Nestled in the Silent Valley
National Park, it is one of the lakes in

Pykara Lake

Pykara Lake, which has its genesis
in the Mukurthi Peak, traverses the arcs and slopes of the mountain creating

Kamaraj Sagar

Kamaraj Sagar, one of the most popular Ooty lakes, is situated at
a distance of 10 km from Ooty on the slopes of the Wenlock Downs. The lush green
slopes, serene blue waters, majestic Dam, and the contiguous pine forest have
made it a perfect setting for many of the Bollywood songs.
It is also the most

Upper Bhavani Lake

One of the lakes
in Ooty, which is less known to the outside world, but an enamoring and ‘a
must see’ tourist spot in Ooty is the Upper Bhavani Lake. Seated in the hilly
regions of Nilgiri district, above the Avalanche area in Ooty.
It requires
prior permission of the Forest Dept. to visit this place. Located 50 km from
Ooty the visitors need to hire private transport to reach Avalanche Forest
check post. From there eco-tour vehicles with guides will take the visitors to
the Upper Bhavani Lake.
Enroute to the Lake, visitors will get a chance to
visit the Cauliflower Sholas, Thalai Bhavani (Bhavani Amman Temple), and
Lakkidi, the backwaters of Upper Bhavani Reservoir. The rolling tea gardens,
blooming flowers, sholas (stunted evergreen tropical forests), and grasslands
present a great spectacle. Fog and mist that transcends green mountains and

Bellikkal Lake
