Honnemardu Water Sports
Honne literally means timber and mardu lots. Honnemardu is a visual treat, offering a view of the mountains, verdant trees, vast expanse of water, islands. The place offers a spectacular vista of the glorious sunset and sunrise.
The village of Honnemardu has been submerged under the Linganmakki reservoir. Since its predominantly a water area, its an ideal destination to indulge in water sports. The reservoir stretches over an area of 50 km by 80 km. Honnemardu offers an incredible range of water sports activities, including windsurfing, coracling, canoeing,Kayaking and Scuba Diving.
The place is far away from civilization, which makes it an ideal getaway for those preferring a secluded environment to breath for some time. There are no rest houses around, so its better to take your tent to pitch and camp. In addition to being a Water Sports destination, Trekking enthusiasts also find Honnemardu to their liking. They can trek from Talguppa to Honnemaradu.

How to Reach
Bangalore - Shimoga - Talagoppa - Honnemaradu.
From Bangalore, you can catch the overnight Shimoga Express. Reaching Shimoga, you need to board an early morning train, which takes around 3 hours to reach Talguppa. Or, you can also catch a local bus to reach Talguppa. Reaching Talguppa, you can either trek or hire a jeep to reach Honnemardu.
