The low season in Santorini extends from September to June. But the low season months are not all alike. While May, June and September are officially designated as the low season by Grecians, they are actually the best time to visit Santorini.

July and August are the official high season months in Greece, and for that reason honeymooners need to avoid them. Greece, and especially Santorini, are overflowing with tourists during this season. This makes honeymooning very uncomfortable.

Santorini’s buses are the cheapest way to tour the island. They cover most routes over the island, and all the tourist destinations. The buses are decently maintained and ply frequently. The main bus station is in Fira, the capital of Santorini.

If you intend to stay for more than a couple of days in Santorini, the best travel option out there for you is a car or bike rental. This will not only be economical but will also ensure that you travel in privacy and at your own convenience.

The Kamari Black Sand Beach is a unique beach in Santorini. It is the longest beach in Santorini and is wholly covered in black sand and pebbles. An enormous hill called Mesa Vouno rises from the sea on the left side of the beach. 

Mesa Vouno is a good place to hike up to. The ancient city of Thira stands atop that hill. There are several activities that you can undertake at the Kamari Beach during the day. These include sun-bathing, lounging under umbrellas, and water-sports like kayaking, boating etc.

The ancient city of Thira stands on top of Misa Vouno, and when on Perissa Beach, you really should undertake an excursion up to the top to see the old city. It is an archaeological site now but open to tourists for a small fee.
