Mount Bromo

Mount Bromo is nestled at a height of 2329 meters yet it is not the highest peak of the massif however it is definitely the most well known. This massif area is one of the most frequented tourist attractions of East Java.
Highlights: Mount Bromo is an active volcano which is a part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. Ever since the year 1919, it is a protected nature reserve. The most typical way to reach the Mount Bromo is via the mountain village that lies in its proximity, Cemoro Lawang. From there you can take a walk to the volcano in about 45 minutes. You can also take an organized jeep tour to the viewpoint on the Mount Penanjakan which can be reached in 2 hours.

Ijen Crater

Ijen Crater that is also known as Kawah Ijen by the locals is a top recommended site in Indonesia which is a must visit. Spread over an area of 134 sq. km, the active crater has a landscape of volcanic cones of both the Mount Merapi and Mount Ijen.
Highlights: Ijen is a convoluted group of composite volcanoes that lie inside the huge caldera Ijen which has a width of 20 kilometres. The highest point of this complex is the Gunung Merapi stratovolcano. Towards the western end of the Ijen volcano there is a 1 km wide bluish green colored acidic crater lake which exudes smoky white during the day and flames or blue fire in the night. Visit the crater to view the largest acidic lake of the world. It is indeed one of the best volcanic mountains of Indonesia.
