Sary Chelek nature reserve


Sary Chelek Nature reserve is situated in Jalal Abad region of western Kyrgyzstan. UNESCO declared the reserve as a World Biosphere reserve in the year 1978. After that, the place has constantly received huge number of tourist footfall every year. This nature reserve is spread across 23,868 hectares and located at an altitude of 1,200–4,250 meters above sea level. The reserve is divided into two sections: Arkyt and Sary-Chelek. Sary Chelek nature reserve consists of 7 small lakes that includes Kylaa-Kel, Arang-Kel, Acheychek-Kol, Bakaly-Kel, and Chacha-Kel. There is also a comparatively large lake called Lake Sary-Chelek. This indeed is a great tourist attraction of the country.

Tash Rabat

Tash Rabat is among the most popular historical sites in Kyrgyzstan. It is a well-preserved 15th century stone caravanserai and is located at the Bashy district in Kyrgyzstan. The place is located at an altitude of 3,200 meters. It is said that Tash Rabat was originally built as a monastery of Nestorian in the 10th century. This beautiful stone consists of 31 dome shaped rooms in total. Horse-riding and trekking are also carried out near Tash Rabbit. It is one of the most famous tourist places in Kyrgyzstan.

Ala Too Square

Built in 1984, Ala Too square is famous for the largest anti-government protest of Kyrgyzstan's Tulip Revolution on March 24, 2005. The square is situated in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. It was built to mark 60th anniversary of Kyrgyz SSR. The memorial ceremony for world-renowned Kyrgyz writer Chingiz took place at Ala Too square. Due to the occurrence of many historical events in the place, it has become a popular tourist attraction in Kyrgyzstan.

Lenin Peak.

Lenin Peak is widely considered as one of the easiest peaks in the world to climb. It has an altitude of around 7000 m and is situated on the border of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Lenin Peak has the most ascents of any 7000 m or higher peak on Earth. It is certainly one of the most beautiful place to visit in Kyrgyzstan. If you like trekking, this is surely a must visit place in the country.

Mt Sulaiman Too

Mt Sulaiman-Too is considered as the most sacred place by Muslims. Also, it is the only world heritage site declared by UNESCO in Kyrgyzstan. This sacred mountain is located in the city of Osh. The mountain has a shrine that contains the grave of Solomon, a prophet in Quran. On the top of the mountain, there is a small mosque built by Babur in 1510. UNESCO has regarded it as a fine testimony of a sacred mountain not only in Kyrgyzstan but in the whole of Central Asia. It is a must visit place for tourists visiting Kyrgyzstan.

Lake Issyk Kul

Lake Issyk Kul is located at northern Tian Shan mountains in eastern Kyrgyzstan. The lake holds some world records that includes being the tenth largest lake in world by volume, second biggest alpine lake and the second largest saline lake. Lake Issyk Kul covers a surface area of 6,236 square kilometers. It is said that about 118 rivers and streams flow into this lake. It is also home to various endangered fishes. The lake is bordered by amazing gorges that is popular for trekking and hiking. Lake Issyk Kul is one of the most beautiful lakes on the planet Earth. You definitely cannot miss a chance to visit such an iconic destination in Kyrgyzstan.
