Karli Backwaters

Karli Backwaters provides stunning views of the confluence of the creek where it meets with the Arabian Sea. The boat ride here is a fun activity. The banks of the river are covered with lush green forests which can be witnessed during the boat ride.

You can even opt for a guided tour with the local tour operators. Various packages comprising the backwaters can be booked online as well. Several houseboats facilities are also available along the riverbank, similar to the style of the Kerala backwaters  and it is one of the best places to visit in Tarkarli.

Tarkarli Beach

Tarkarli beach is a long and extended coastline which is popular for clean water and serene ambience. Various water sports are pursued in the vicinity of the beach. On a clear day, about 20 feet deep waterbed can be seen. Sometimes, dolphins can also be spotted from the shore by the lucky tourists and it is one of the best places to visit in Tarkarli.

The tall trees, especially Shuru, create the perfect backdrop for the site. The beach is one of the major places to see in Tarkarli. This Tarkarli beach, on a sunny day, can be a great spot for a family picnic as well.

Deobagh

Deobagh, which literally means God’s garden, is a village that belongs to the fishermen community here in Tarkarli. This is among the important tourist places to visit in Tarkarli to get a clear picture of the day-to-day life of the region. The fishermen here offer their boats on rent to the tourists for sightseeing.

Dhamapur Lake

Dhamapur Lake, which is spread over 10 acres of area, is one of the major places to see in Tarkarli, especially for those who love water sports. The lake, surrounded by the hills, was created in 1530 by king Nagesh Desai.

The water of the lake is crystal clear, with the Bhagwati temple situated near to it. Tourists who want to spend more than a day near the lake can opt for the homestay facilities available in the local villages. Most of them are huts equipped with native and rural facilities and it is one of the best places to visit in Tarkarli.

Sindhudurg Fort
Sindhudurg Fort is one of the main tourist places in Tarkarli. In the literal sense, the name Sindhudurg Fort means, fort built on the ocean floor. The fort was built by the famous Marathi king Shivaji, over a period of three years.

More than 100 Portuguese architects and thousands of Indian workers had built a fort to defend the Maratha Empire from the attacks of the outsiders or intruders. This historical site is one of the major places to visit in Tarkarli.

Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Temple

Shree Shivchhatrapati Temple was built to remember the contributions of king Chhatrapati Shivaji for the creation of the separate and unique Maratha kingdom. The temple was built by Rajaram in the year 1695. It is said that the footprints and handprints of Shivaji himself are carved on the limestones at the temple and it is one of the best places to visit in Tarkarli.

Inside the temple, you will find a very quiet and calm atmosphere. It takes around 1 hour to cover the tour of the entire temple. The place carries the heritage of traditional Maratha beliefs and culture.

Location: The temple is located at Dilli Gate. It is barely 6km from Malvan Town.

Achra Beach

Achra Beach is among the major places to visit in Tarkarli. The beach is around 6 km from the main city. Several transportation facilities such as private cars, autos and vans are available to reach here.

Numerous temples are located on and near the beach. Among them, the temple of Lord Rameshwar, a 260-year-old shrine, is very pious according to the local belief of the natives. Compared to the other beaches in Tarkarli, Achra is a very secluded spot.

Location: The Achra beach is just 6km from the Malvan Town.

Tsunami Island

This is one of the happening tourist places in Tarkarli, as various adventure sports like scuba diving, paragliding, parasailing, banana boat ride and bumper ride among other such fun activities can be pursued here. The island bears similarities with the atmosphere of Goa.

There are several huts and shacks along the beach where you can find some good beer and snacks to have a great time. The local administration here tries to make the beach dirt and plastic free and it is one of the best places to visit in Tarkarli

Kolamb Beach

You can head towards the beach through bus or car from Kudal railway station of Dabolim airport in Goa. Exotic seafood and local brews should not be missed if you visit Malvan.

 Wairy Ubhatwadi Beach

The Wairy Ubhatwadi Beach features among the unique places to visit in Tarkarli. The place remains unexplored and virgin with less tourists footfall. The trade value of this beach is huge as the major amount of fish auctions of the entire state of Maharashtra takes place on this beach.

As a tourist, you can enjoy the water sports on this beach as well, or can witness the fish auction sessions that take place twice a day, at 7 am and at 6pm.

Location: The beach is just 10 minutes walk from the Malvan Dandi fish market.

 Padmagad Fort

The Wairy Ubhatwadi Beach features among the unique places to visit in Tarkarli. The place remains unexplored and virgin with less tourists footfall. The trade value of this beach is huge as the major amount of fish auctions of the entire state of Maharashtra takes place on this beach.

As a tourist, you can enjoy the water sports on this beach as well, or can witness the fish auction sessions that take place twice a day, at 7 am and at 6pm.

Location: The beach is just 10 minutes walk from the Malvan Dandi fish market.

 Rock Garden Sunset Point

All credits should go to the Malvan municipal authorities for maintaining this stunning rock garden along the coast. This is a delightful experience to witness the waves crash onto the rocks and boulders situated near the shore. This is among the most famous places to visit near Tarkarli for its gorgeous sunset views as well.

Here you can enjoy a peaceful environment, well-maintained surroundings and a group of warm natives. The beautiful virgin beach decorated with rocks creates a different ambience altogether if visited during sundown.

Location: The rock garden is situated amid the Malvan heartland.

Wayari Bhutnath Beach

Wayari Bhutnath Beach is one of the attractive places to visit in Tarkarli. The beautiful white sand beach is famous among the tourists as it offers great homestay facilities nearby. The beach is located centrally so you can access all the famous tourist destinations nearby.

Frequent bus services are available from here to cover the locations. Deep sea diving, parasailing and paragliding can be enjoyed here. Tourists can relish local delicacies at the homestays.

Scuba instructors are experienced, they take good care of you, water visibility is not that good, parasailing and other water sports are bang for your buck. Overall good package for first time experience and some fun, it took me more than 4 hours due to tourist rush.
