This wildlife century came into existence in the year 1999 under the Wildlife Act. The Sanctuary lies on the Western Ghats in the northern part of the Panjim city. One of the most notable temples in Goa, which was built in the 12th century, is a Shaivite temple of Lord Shiva. The place is frequently visited by Hindu devotees and has Jain style of construction.
