Durgapur

Located on the banks of the Damodar River, this coalfield surrounded place is situated in the Paschim Bardhaman district. Durgapur is amongst the largest industrial centres, often referred to as the ‘Steel City of Bengal’ and the second planned city in the country and amongst the most offbeat places to visit in West Bengal.

Enjoy boating in the serene and lush Kumaramangalam Park and try cable car rides and water sports at Troika Park. Spend serene time in the pious atmosphere of the Ram Mandir here that is famous for its green surroundings and carved architecture.

Durgapur is hot and humid in the summers with temperatures reaching up to 40°C. Monsoons, though pleasant, bring a heavy barrage of rains and flooding risks. Winter months are cool & dry, with temperatures hovering around 15°C, making it quite pleasant to be outdoors and enjoying the local attractions.
