High in the mountains, where only pure breezes blow and nature’s magic is ever-present, the Saryu and Gomti rivers come together to form one formidable and auspicious river, and at this point of confluence sits the temple town of Bageshwar. Ancient temples of all shapes and sizes enrich the town, and its small streets are full of vendors selling delicious sweets, holy water, and devotional goods. Baijnath Temple, on the banks of Gomti River, is a wonderful temple complex full of grandiose ancient temples dedicated to various gods and goddesses. The main temple, which is dedicated to Shiva and Parvati, is the source of Bageshwar’s cultural mythology. The Chandika Devi Temple dedicated to Kali, the Baghnath Temple from which the town takes its name, the Chandrika Devi Temple of Durga, Nileshwar Temple, Suraj Kund, and Jwali Devi temple are some other important temples in and around Bageshwar. One of the best things to do in Bageshwar is making a pilgrimage to all the temples which is a beautiful way of spending your stay here. All the temples are full of solitude and serenity, and offer panoramic views of the mountains.
But there are plenty of other attractions in Bageshwar apart from its temples. The Gauri Udiyar Cave is an attraction because of the many statues of Shiva that it houses. Danger lurks in every corner of the location because of the wild beasts that reside nearby. Dainty villages are scattered all across the Bageshwar district and hiking there makes for a fun-filled activity because of the good-natured people who live there. Vijaypur, Kanda, and Bigul village are not only pleasant spots for local interaction but also rich in spectacular views. Hiking is one of the best things to do in Bageshwar. These mountain experiences you can have will couple the intense spirituality of Bageshwar with its pleasing views and gurgling rivers.
