The quaint lakeside within the Palace premises and the lush green gardens surrounding it are ideally suited for day picnics. The Palace is also home to the Sita Ram temple, which is thronged by devotees during Ram Navami each year.

The red sandstone structure formerly served as a palace, and now stands as a token of honor for the late Queen. The imposing Chhatri is well known for its brilliant architectural beauty, with gold leaf paintings of mythological scenes adorning its walls. The Chhatri houses a small museum with humble exhibits as well.

4. Karni Mata Temple: Also known as the “Temple of Rats’, Karni Mata Temple is one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimage sites in all of Rajasthan. The temple has about 25,000 rats who are considered to be auspicious by the temple staff.

The idol of Karni Mata housed at the temple is also shown to be surrounded by a host of rats. The magnificent architecture of the temple adds to the grandeur of the monument, with massive marble walls showcasing intricate carvings. The temple also conducts annual fairs twice a year, once in March-April, and then again between September-October.

5. Government Museum: Housed in the vicinity of the City Palace, the Government Museum houses a staggering collection of artefacts detailing the history of the town. The collection at the government Museum includes over 9,500 coins, over 2,000 paintings and arms, around 230 paintings and 11 inscriptions. Apart from this, pottery, Persian manuscripts, lacquered works and brass utensils are also put on display.

We stayed in Tijara for 2 days. The view from the palace is great as it is situated on a hill. We have loved our accommodation and the spa traetments at the palace is worth trying. It was a relaxing holiday. Highly recommended to try this place once.
