Akuressa

Akuressa is a beautiful city situated along the River Nilwala in the District of Matara. It is a commercial hub where many farmers travel to sell rubber, spices, tea, and other foods. Akuressa is surrounded by many small towns such as Pitabaddara, Algeria, Imaduwa, Kamburupitiya, and Makandura. It is rooted in history, tradition, and culture and exhibits a vibrant mash-up of the new and the ancient.

It is also an excellent base for striking out into the wilds and immersing in nature. Akuressa has some of the best tea factories where you can see the tea-making process and know about various tea varieties.
