The Wylam Brewery is a 30-barrel microbrewery located in Newcastle upon Tyne's Palace of Arts in Exhibition Park. The Brewery Tap & Kitchen is located right next to the Brewery and is open on Thursdays through Sundays every week. They serve a wide variety of craft beers in both keg and cask formats, including their signature Jakehead IPA, a selection of flavorful Heritage Cask Beers, and a selection of core keg beers that appeal to a wide range of palates.
The microbrewery and events venue, Wylam Brewery, debuted at Exhibition Park, Newcastle, on May 27, 2016. Famous for hosting a wide variety of events, Wylam Brewery at Palace of Art is the counterculture heartbeat of Newcastle's vibrant nightlife. Palace of Art, where Wylam Brewery is located, was constructed for the 1929 North East Exhibition and is now the only structure from that event still standing.
Craft, Art, and Industry were all encouraged and celebrated at the Exhibition, which was an ambitious undertaking at the beginning of the Great Depression. From its humble beginnings in a potting shed in Wylam, Northumberland, where locals John Boyle and Robin Leighton laboured over malt bills and recipes, Wylam Brewery has gone a long way.
Wylam Brewery's original concoctions can be found in fine drinking establishments and specialty stores all throughout the country. For critical maintenance reasons, the Military Vehicle Museum had to close its doors in 2006, and it eventually moved to Sunderland. After lying dormant for nearly a decade, the Palace of Arts is now open as the Wylam Brewery, where people can enjoy beer, food, and live music.
