Located in Bithoor district of Kanpur, Valmiki Ashram is one of the most sacred tourist places in Kanpur situated on a hilltop. The ashram is marked by its simplistic architecture and peaceful vibes which will soothe your soul in minutes after you step inside.
Being reckoned as the place where saint Valmiki wrote down the Ramayana, this Ashram bears a lot of significance in Indian mythology. It also comprises a small pond called Sita Kund and three temples where you can spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. The temple also has a beautiful idol of Maharishi Valmiki which appears just as lively as its surroundings. If the folktales are to be believed, this Ashram was also the residence of Goddess Sita during her exile.
