Urban Winery Overview

Urban Winery Sydney, Sydney’s only winery, is situated within the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park, and is a uniquely versatile venue. It houses a fully operational open winery, event space, wine bar, and cellar door under one roof.

The winery was founded in 2008 by winemaker Alex Retief and the award-winning wines are sold under A.Retief labels. Apart from the A.Retief label, the winery also has a selection of the best wines, craft beers, spirits and charcuterie from around the state. Experience wine tasting at Urban Winery in Sydney, a unique stop featured in Australia packages.

While visiting the winery, you will be able to indulge in several different types of experiences. Choose between tasting 6 wines on your own or taking a winery tour first and then tasting the wines. Opt to learn the art of winemaking and create your own blend. If you visit during March, you can also participate in the grape harvest and wine stomping session.

How To Reach

1. By Car: The Urban Winery is located 5.2 km from the city centre, it will take 16 min via the M1 route.

2. By Train: Take a train to Sydney's Central Station, which is 3.5 feet away from the winery. You can reach the winery from the train station with a 10-minute drive via Driver Ave.

3. By Bus: Take a bus to Cook Rd opp Darvall, which is 650m away from the winery. You can reach the winery from the bus station with a 10-minute walk

Best Time To Visit

Urban Winery is a year-round attraction, and you will be able to visit the place from Thursday to Sunday and the place remains closed from Monday to Wednesday. However, the place remains closed from 25th December till 2nd January.

1. Best Season: The best season to visit Urban Winery is in Autumn, from March to May. This is the grape harvesting and stomping season and visiting during March, you will be able to partake in this experience.

2. Best Day in the Week: The best day in the week is Sunday, especially the 2nd Sunday of the month when you will be able to enjoy several experiences at the winery.

3. The Best Time of the Day: The Urban Winery is open on Thursday and Friday between 4 pm to 8 pm and on Saturday from 12 pm to 8 pm and on Sunday from 12 pm to 6 pm. The best time to visit the winery is in the afternoon, which is the starting time for various experiences.

Visitor Tips:

1. You need to be of minimum 18 years old to take part in the experiences and may need to show your photo ID.

2. Children are permitted to visit the winery, but not participate in any experiences. 

3. The winery is wheelchair accessible 

4. The winery is stroller accessible, so infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller and can also be seated on the lap of an accompanying adult.

5. Service animals are allowed inside the winery
