THE HEART OF CAPE TOWN MUSEUM

Situated in the East City in District Six, this popular museum happens to be the place where Dr Christiaan Barnard and his team took out the world's first of its kind heart-transplant operation. The museum is nestled within the Groote Schuur Hospital and has been honouring all those surgeons who created a milestone in the medical field for ages.

The two hours guided tour of this place will start with the display of the car accident which provided the heart for the transplant, after which you can go forward to witness the recreation of the original surgery in the operation theatre.
