The Bund, also known as Waitan is a historical district located in central Shanghai. This area is a waterfront and is famous for its buildings and wharves located in the area and its neighbourhood. This area used to be a rich and powerful centre during the 1860s to 1930s and operated as a treaty port that was legally protected.
It is one of the best places to visit in Shanghai housing numerous historical buildings, including consulates and clubs. You can stroll along the bund and appreciate the 52 historical buildings with amazing architecture, take a cruise on the Huangpu River, or spend some leisurely time in Huangpu Park.
