How To Reach

Thambi View Point is located near Zuluk in Sikkim at an altitude of 11,200 feet. It is approximately 14 km from Zuluk and has a zig zag route of the Old Silk Route to reach the site.

1. By Car: If you have your own vehicle or a rental, you can drive from Zuluk to Thambi Viewpoint. The route is a bit difficult but is quite scenic. It will take almost 35 to 40 minutes to reach Thambi View Point, depending on the weather.

2. By Taxi: Taxis can be hired in Zuluk for the trip to Thambi Viewpoint. Local drivers are familiar with the routes and can navigate the hairpin bends safely. It is a more convenient and easy option.

Best Time To Visit

Thambi View Point is a natural tourist attraction and is open all year round from sunrise 5 AM to sunset around 6 PM. There is usually no entry fee for the Thambi Viewpoint itself. However, access to Zuluk and the viewpoint requires an Inner Line Permit (ILP) since it is close to the India-China border.

1. Best Season to Visit: Thambi View Point is at an altitude and is pretty cold all year round. The best season to visit the place is in the summer season from April to September. You can witness pleasant weather from April to June along with blooming rhododendrons.

2. Best Day of the Week: The recommended day to visit the viewpoint is midweek, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. These days generally offer a good balance, with fewer crowds than at the weekend and more activities and open facilities compared to early in the week.

3. Best Time of the Day: Thambi View Point is known for its stunning sunrise view and its panoramic view of the mountains. The best time to visit the viewpoint is early morning at sunrise, witnessing the sun's hues spread over the mountains, creating magic.

  • Zuluk and its surrounding areas are considered a restricted zone due to the India-China border, so make sure you have the necessary permits to travel to this region.
  • Drive cautiously on the route to Thambi View Point, some turns are narrow and steep.
