SURAT CASTLE

For all those who wish to add a historical flavour to their Surat trip, do not forget to add Surat Castle to your list of places to visit in Surat. Representing one of the chief historical monuments of Gujarat, the Surat Castle is tucked proudly on the banks of River Tapi.

The shape of the castle is somewhat irregular with a short wing facing the west direction; while the oblique wing faces the north-west region. Across each of its corners, the castle displays a large round tower measuring about 12.2 meters high and 4.1 meters thick. The bastions display Portuguese style architecture at its top edge.
