Located in the city center of Hereford, this stunning neoclassical-style church was built in the year 1839 and was designed by an architect from Worcester, Charles Day. The church was restored and redecorated over a period of time from 1998 to 2003.
The church has beautiful Greek interiors used in the Doric order and the front facade has a large neoclassical portion that resembles the Athenians at Delphi, Greece. One of the best tourist attractions in Hereford, this church has a 60 feet dome and the ceiling is curved and beautifully decorated with 390 golden stars with a dark blue background. The sanctuary at the church includes a beautiful high altar and a tabernacle which is known to be an exact replica of the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament of St Peter’s in Rome.
The most recent addition to this church is a shrine dedicated to St John Paul 11 which was inaugurated by the Polish congregation.
