The St. Florian’s Gate or simply called the Florian Gate was built as part of the fortification process of Krakow. Although the date is not clearly known, it was built to prevent the city from Tatar aggression, which destroyed a major portion of Krakow. Today, it remains as one of the few remnants of the ancient fortification process of Krakow and is used as an entry point to Krakow's Old Town.
The gate stands at a height of about 35 metres, and is built in the Polish Gothic Style. One of its sides facing the Barbican has a stoned eagle, and the side facing Florian's Street has a bas-relief of St. Florian's. You can also find a hidden chapel inside the tower that can be accessed through the walls. You can also visit Florianska Street, which is one of the best public squares in Krakow and has dozens of shops, restaurants, hotels and museums.
