Shettihalli Rosary Church Overview

Built-in the year 1860, Shettihalli Rosary Church is also known as floating church. It is a mesmerising building which is a major heritage signifying gothic architecture. It was used for prayers till the year 1960 as 100 years later the church was to abandon so that Hemavathi Reservoir could get way and it is one of the best Sakleshpur visiting places.

Due to this, the church gets partially submerged in the backwaters of Hemavathi Dam during the monsoon months from July to October and the ground starts coming back in the month of November and remains dry till May. Due to this practice, one of the elegant Sakleshpur tourist places is getting weaker and could fall if not restored.
