Opened in 1930, Shedd Aquarium is an indoor public aquarium that holds about 32000 animals. It was the first inland aquarium that has a permanent collection of saltwater fish. Its collection includes 1500 species of marine animals, fishes, snakes, amphibians, birds, and insects.
