As the name indicates, Shankar Viman mandapam is a holy temple dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva or Shakara. It is located to the North of the Triveni Sangam and the left bank of the river Ganges. Thousands of devotees flock to the temple particularly during the Kumbh Mela. However, it remains open all year round and can be visited for special prayer sessions as well.
The four stories of the temple are said to have been built in the memory of Adi Sankaracharya, a famous devotee saint of Lord Shiva. The construction of the temple is typical to South India with the Vimana being the main focus of the temple. Today, it is a popular Allahabad tourist place and should be visited for spiritual calmness.
