SEPULCHRAL CHAPEL ON WURTTEMBERG HILL

The Sepulchral Chapel on Württemberg Hill, located near Stuttgart in Germany, is a remarkable example of neoclassical architecture and a poignant testament to enduring love. Constructed between 1820 and 1824, it was commissioned by King Wilhelm I of Württemberg as a memorial for his beloved wife, Queen Katharina, who passed away unexpectedly in 1819.

The chapel, designed by court architect Giovanni Salucci, stands prominently on the hill where the former ancestral castle of the House of Württemberg once stood, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards and the Neckar Valley.

The design of the chapel is inspired by ancient Roman architecture, featuring a circular domed structure reminiscent of the Pantheon.
