This is a Victorian Gothic monument dedicated to the famous author and poet Sir Walter Scott. It is one of the best places to visit in Edinburgh that can be climbed to enjoy a breathtaking panorama of Edinburgh. The monument rises above the city at two hundred feet and has been nicknamed as "The Gothic Rocket."
Visitors can climb two hundred and eighty-seven steps to an observation platform for superb views over the National Portrait Gallery of Scotland, Princes Street Gardens, and Edinburgh Castle.
