Located in Holyrood Park, southeast of Princes Street, the Salisbury Crags represent a Carboniferous sill's remains, formed in a shallow sea around three hundred and forty million years ago. They are a series of forty-six-meter cliffs at the top of a spur of Arthur's Seat.
From the top of Salisbury Crags, you can have stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo event, which is held in August each year. It is renowned among the local climbers and is also considered an excellent site for a picnic.
