The natural geography suggests that the Romans have used Sacrewell water power for several centuries, which helps keep its name “Sacrewell’. The existing watermill was constructed in 1755 and operated until 1965, but then the operations stopped due to scarcity of workforce.
To improve the educational resources of agriculture, they have restored and conserved this building as well as unlocked memories and stories of people that have worked there. The famous “Sacrewell” also has other attractions, including farm animals like sheep, pigs, and some unusual alpacas, some guinea pigs, and rabbits living in Hutton barn with old farming equipment.
