A family chapel, once belonging to the Dodenham family, the Rotherwas Chapel is currently owned by English heritage and is one of the best tourist attractions in Hereford. Roger Bodenham was a knight of the Bath at the coronation of James I in 1603 and was miraculously cured by bathing in the sacred waters of Holywell then he depicted a victorian stained glass window in the south chapel.
You can explore the interiors of the chapel and look at the Victorian embellishments and the best part of the chapel is its Tudor roof. On the north side of the chapel, you can explore an ornate chimney, fireplace, and pinewood confessional. You can also read the information panel which contains the history of the chapel along with the floor plan and history of the Bodenham family.
You can also look at the portrait figures of Charles and Irene Bodenham from the east windows. The southeast chapel contained tombs of both Irene Bodenham and Roger Bodenham, although the remains of both were removed in 1912.
