ROSARIO CATHEDRAL

Rosario Cathedral is the oldest church built approximately 450 years ago. It is the most popular and well-known Roman Catholic cathedral. Rosario Cathedral used to be the first Roman Catholic Church in the region of Canara.

Well, in history, the church was reserved for the high class or high caste catholic living in Mangalore. The church was built in the year 1568, by the Portuguese.

The structure and architect were utterly demolished by the Mysorean dynasty Tipu Sultan, during 1784, later in 1813, the reconstruction was again started. In the year 1910, the new structure with all refreshing architect and designs was created.
