Also famous as Ropar Lake, it is a man-made lake which is built on River Sutlej. It is one of the prominent places to see in Punjab for enjoying activities like bird watching and boating. A nature lover’s respite, this tourist spot is managed by the Punjab Tourism Development Corporation.
The lake is home to more than 250 varieties of migratory birds from all over the world. Moreover, you can spot many endangered species here like python, scaly anteater and turtle Chitra indica. The area surrounding the lake has been made into a tourism complex and called “Pinccassia”.
Sprawling over an area of 1365 hectares, this freshwater lake is an ideal getaway from the hubbub of cities to appreciate wildlife and nature. It is famous for being one of the 21 Ramsar sites in India as stated by the Ramsar Convention due to its rich biodiversity.
