The clock reenacts two historical scenes from Munich's past. The first scene depicts the marriage of Duke Wilhelm V to Renata of Lorraine in 1568, including a jousting tournament where the Bavarian knight always emerges victorious. The second scene shows the Schäfflerstanz, or coopers' dance, which commemorates the end of a plague in 1517. According to legend, coopers danced to signal the end of the plague and encourage residents to return to their daily lives. At the end of each performance, a small golden rooster at the top of the Glockenspiel chirps three times to signal the conclusion of the show. The Glockenspiel is a significant cultural landmark and a must-see attraction in Munich, offering a glimpse into the city's rich history and folklore.
