Puri Saren Agung Overview

Puri Saren Agung is a majestic royal palace with rich cultural significance. Built in the 19th century, it served as the residence of the Ubud royal family. Adorned with intricate Balinese architecture and traditional designs, the palace is a captivating blend of history and artistry. Today, it hosts cultural performances, dance shows, and various events, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the vibrant Balinese heritage while surrounded by the palace's enchanting beauty.

Puri Saren Agung, commonly known as the Ubud Kingdom Palace, is a temple surrounded by exquisite traditional buildings that were formerly home to the royal family of Bali. This royal palace dates back to the early nineteenth century, when it was constructed under the reign of Ida Putu Kandel. Still under the care of the erstwhile king’s heirs, the Puri Saren Agung is now one of Ubud’s biggest repositories of traditional arts and a fantastic attraction to discover with our Bali tour packages from India

Puri Saren Agung, also known as Ubud's birthplace, is recognised as an artistic melting pot. Upon visiting, one finds the entrance flanked by lotus ponds on either side. Only two buildings are open to the public, where an exotic array of art and traditional Bali sculpture work is kept on display. The Palace itself is recognized for its traditional Balinese designs, with stupa-like tiers dividing the towers of each building into several levels.

There are also tiny cottages on the grounds of the royal palace that provide lodging. Beautiful gardens, sculptures, fountains, and various old buildings surround them, making this a wonderful spot to spend some time with your loved ones. A traditional Balinese dance-drama is held on the palace grounds each day, where elaborately dressed dancers act out scenes from mythologies and legends.
