Ponagar Temple Overview

Ponagar Temple is a historical and cultural monument of Nha Trang which was built between the 7th and 13th century. This national temple is dedicated to Queen Po Ina Nagar who shared the crucial knowledge of agriculture and craftsmanship with the Cham civilization. Due to this, the people of the Cham clan still hold great respect and reverence for Ponagar Temple.

The Temple is divided into four sections, namely, the Gate Tower, the Vestibule, the Temple and the Inscription Area. The entire structure was built with baked bricks and unique techniques, reflecting the architectural talent of the Cham clan. The ancient Ponagar Temple in Vietnam, known for its rich history and stunning architecture, is a highlight often included in Vietnam packages for a cultural immersion.

The temple also hosts a cultural festival which is mainly organised by the Cham family members and attended by the entire village. The festival includes rituals like bathing the goddess, cultural performances, lighting lanterns and making offerings to the goddess. You can be a part of this celebration, offer your prayers and even dance with the locals for a memorable experience.
