About Piha Beach

45 minutes west of Auckland city resides Piha, an easy-going seafront town, extremely active among residents in summer. It is a common surfing spot that is defined at either side by towering cliffs. There are powerful and sometimes destructive currents in the water but lifesavers are always patrolling the area.

You can also learn to surf while you are there. Delicious snacks and food is served in a popular licensed cafe and a takeaway shop, and the surf club has a bar and restaurant.
