Paris Plages Overview

Besides having no natural beaches, the city of Paris has been successful in hosting artificial beaches, known as the Paris Plages. Each year since 2006, man-made beaches are curated along the banks of the River Seine to let Parisians experience the French beach. During the months of July and August, sometimes leading to early September owing to its popularity, trucks of sand are brought to the river banks for ultimate beach vibes. People are seen to be enjoying and relaxing along the river banks indulging in different water sports and leisure activities.

Everyone knows Paris possesses no natural beach but has never looked back since 2006 as the government has created artificial ones. Paris-Plages translates to “Paris Beaches”. This is a plan executed every year by the Mayor of Paris to make Paris into one kind of tourist destination. It was started as a project to keep Parisians from moving to the countryside for beach experiences. Each year during the summer season, several artificial beaches are created along the Rivers Seine banks in the center of Paris. A natural beach look is mimicked by the man-made ones in the fashion of sands covered with palm trees. The roads toward the region of the Seine River are used mostly for cyclic activities and various other socio-cultural activities. Don't forget to visit this unique attraction with our Europe package and enjoy the summer vibes in the heart of Paris.

The riverside is made into a resort with a soothing atmosphere of beach with beach chairs, umbrellas, and ice cream stands. You can even enjoy water-related activities and cruising from the Bassin de la Villette along the banks of the River Seine.

The entire Parc de Seine is transformed from a highway to a French resort with complete entertainment even comprising swimming pools. Thousands of tons of sand are taken into this place to create the ultimate beach vibes with trees and grass replacing them during the off-season. Paris plages host water sports as well along with being a place to relax the summer with beachy feelings.
