MUSEUM PASIFIKA

When you visit Bali, you should visit Museum Pasifika an important art museum founded by Moetaryanto P and Philippe Augier in 2006. It represents the Asian Pacific’s variety of cultural artefacts. It displays more the 600 artworks created by 200 artists belong to 25 different countries. It was initiated by a small circle of French and Indonesian art lovers and artists. The collections in the museum are roaming around the cultural and traditional lifestyle themes. 

One of the famous painters in Bali Nyoman Gunarsa’s and a Javanese artist Raden Saleh’s works are depicted inside the museum to set some examples. The purpose of such museum ranges from awareness to education to the visitors as well as the locals of Bali about protecting the powerful art forms the country has ever witnessed.

Highlights: Museum Pasifika has a number of galleries, around 11 of them which display different artefacts from different countries around the world. Room 1 showcases Indonesian artists while room 2 has Italian artists in Indonesia. Dutch artists in Indonesia are in room 3 and French ones are in room 4. Room 5 collects the Indo-European artists in Indonesia while room 6 has managed to act as a temporary exhibition centre. 

Artists on Indochina Peninsula, on Polynesia and Tahiti are preserved in room 7 and 8. Room 9 possesses premier art of Vanuatu and the Pacific Island Paintings of Aloi Pilioko and Nicolai Michoutouchkine. Room 10 preserves Tapa of Oceania and Pacific artefacts while the last room has several artworks from Japan, China, Thailand, Malaysia etc.

Timing: The museum is open on all days from 10:00 am to 06:00 pm.

Entry fee: For adults, the entry fee is IDR 70000 and for children under 10 years of age, the entry is free.
