About Museum Of Contemporary Art

The Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney is Australia's premier museum which is dedicated to collecting and exhibiting contemporary art from Australia and around the world. The Museum is housed in the building of the former Maritime Services which is located at Circular Quay. The building itself is one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture. There are more than 4,000 incredible works of art in the Museum of Contemporary Art done by some of the most renowned Australian artists and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.

Over and above the permanent collection, the museum regularly hosts a rotational range of modern art exhibitions which are truly spectacular. The Museum also offers guided tours of the exhibits which are free of charge and these are conducted by the Museum's Volunteers. Visitors can enquire and book guided tours at the information desk on Level I. The Museum of Contemporary Art has an onsite restaurant and a cafe. MCA Café is on the rooftop offering fantastic views as you enjoy their selection of coffee and snacks. If you are looking for a more elaborate meal then visit Graze MCA which is on the ground floor. The MCA Store offers an excellent range of Australian and international contemporary art publications, toys, puzzles, homewares and more.
