This monument built by Nawab Saadat Ali Khan is also known as the Pearl Palace. Situated on the banks of River Gomti, it was used by the royal family of Lucknow to watch animals on the other side of the river as well as bird-watching. The palace derives its name from its white pearl-like appearance.
If you visit the Moti Mahal, you also get to visit two other buildings Shah Manzil and Mubarak Manzil which were built on both sides of the Pearl Palace and are presently being used as government offices. Once, the monument also acted as an important building for enemy operations at that time; today, its lawns are used for public events like exhibitions and parties.
