According to a story, some narrate that this mosque was called to be a cloud that blocked the sun from the Prophet as he offered Salat Al Istisqa (prayer for rains). This is a crucial ziyarat place and is also the same place where the clouds appeared immediately and began a heavy downpour. There is another story that mentions the mosque as Musalla Mosque because most of the Prophet's prayer for two feasts was in it.
