One of the famous tourist places in Nagpur, Markanda was named after a popular sage called Markandeya who worshipped a Shiva Linga here, giving the place mythological importance ever since then.
The town has a total of 24 temples that if looked at together, often give the impression of Khajuraho temples. Markanda can be visited by anybody having a great interest in mythology, traditions, art museums and stories.
