MARJAN ISLAND

Marjan Island is a small beautiful island, flaunting dense mangroves, mudflats, and palm trees. It is located on the Persian Gulf coast of Saudi Arabia, about 30 km southeast of the city of Dammam. Marjan Island is composed chiefly of limestone that was evidently laid down under shallow seas in Paleozoic times. The terrain on the island largely repeats itself with a succession of high cliffs overlooking narrow beaches backed by sand dunes.
