The iconic Large Fountain of Onofrio in Dubrovnik, which was constructed between 1438 and 1444, is arguably the most well-known of the city's numerous historic structures. This iconic building is just a short stroll from the Pile Gate, though deterioration from the quakes of 1667 has made this quite smaller than it was originally. The fountain was an important part of the original Dubrovacka river-based water delivery system, which was also designed by Onofrio de la Cava.
