This location is pretty well-known for its Koyna Dam, as it is constructed over, one of the primary tributaries of river Krishna, adjoining River Koyna.

Entire dam is completely covered by thick and dense green forests which are comes under Sahyadri Range backing Western Ghats. Of course, Western Ghats is one of the most popular destinations for one or two day picnic.
