About Kirkjufell Mountain

Known for its unique cylindrical shape, Kirkjufell is the country’s most photographed mountain. The climb to the top is fairly steep, but equally rewarding with its uninterrupted views of the surrounding glaciers and lakes. The unobstructed views to the sky offered by Kirkjufell also make it one of the best places in Iceland to watch the Northern Lights from during an Iceland trip.

Location: Snæfellsnes peninsula

Best time to visit: Between May and August, when the Northern Lights are most frequent
