KARDANG MONASTERY

Located in a village of the same name, Kardang Monastery is considered to be the most important monastery in the valley of Lahaul. A white facade decorated with prayer flags in their traditional colors is what greets the visitors as they arrive at this beautiful monastery. Located in the foothill of Rangcha Peak, this 900-year-old monastery belongs to the well-known Drukpa Lineage and was built on the left bank of the Bhaga River.

In the monastery, you will find thankas, musical instruments such as flutes, drums, horns, as well as old weapons, colorful frescoes and a number of wall murals.
