Located in Rajasthan's Karauli district, Kaila Devi Temple stands as a testament to divine belief and architectural splendour. It is situated on the serene banks of the Kalisil River amidst the lush Aravali Hills. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Kaila Devi, an incarnation of Mahayogini Maya. The temple's history is rich, tracing back to the 11th century. This is when the deity's image first arrived in Karauli. It symbolises protection and blessing to the local sage Kedargiri and the wider community.

The architecture of Kaila Devi Temple boasts of a marble structure and checkered courtyard. It is a fine example of the grandeur of Rajasthani craftsmanship.

Inside, the temple houses two statues of Kaila Devi and Chamunda Devi. These statues are located side by side and exude spiritual aura and historical significance. The temple, founded by Maharaja Gopal Singh Ji in the 18th century, serves as a spiritual haven. It is also a cultural heritage site, attracting devotees and tourists alike. The annual Chaitra fair, a fortnight of devotion, draws thousands from afar. It reflects the temple's deep-rooted cultural significance and the enduring faith in Goddess Kaila Devi.

How To Reach

By Train: You can take a train from major cities like New Delhi or Jaipur to Gangapur City Railway Station. It is the nearest railway station to the temple, located 38.3 kilometres or 1.5 hours away. Kaila Devi is situated near the broad gauge Western Central Railway line on the Delhi – Bombay route. From Gangapur City, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach the temple.

By Road: Kaila Devi Temple is accessible by road from various cities and towns in Rajasthan and neighbouring states. Some of the major cities near the temple are Hindaun City (54.2 kilometres), Gangapur(36 kilometres), Karauli (25.1 kilometres) and Jaipur (178.6 kilometres).

By Bus: Regular bus services connect Kaila Devi with major cities like Jaipur, Karauli, and Hindaun City. Buses, ranging from state-run RSRTC buses to private operators, offer services to the temple. The journey is an opportunity to witness the vibrant rural life of Rajasthan. These buses stop at Keladevi Bus Stand, which is 700 metres (5 minutes) from the temple. 

By Car: Driving to Kaila Devi Temple offers flexibility and a personal touch to the pilgrimage. From Jaipur, the temple is accessible via NH21, which is a well-maintained route offering smooth travel. The journey takes about 3 to 4 hours.

Best Time To Visit

Kaila Devi Temple is inviting year-round, each season offering a unique experience to its visitors.

Best Season:  October to March is ideal, with cool and pleasant weather making your visit comfortable. This period avoids the intense summer heat, ensuring a more enjoyable experience. Additionally, this period coincides with the vibrant Kaila Devi Fair in March-April, a cultural and spiritual highlight.

Best Day of the Week:  Weekdays are preferable, as weekends can get crowded. It gives you more space and peace to explore and offer prayers without rush.

Best Time of the Day:  Early mornings, around 04:00 a.m. when the temple opens, are best for a visit. The temple is less crowded during this time, and you can participate in the morning aarti, starting your day with blessings. While the temple closes at 08:30 p.m., you can also visit it between 09:00 p.m. to 09:30 p.m. to attend the Jagran.

• Wear modest clothing in respect of temple traditions; men in dhotis or trousers, women in sarees or churidars.
