Jongmyo Shrine, located in Seoul, South Korea, is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its historical and cultural significance. Built in 1394, it is dedicated to the ancestral worship of the Joseon Dynasty. The shrine complex consists of several halls and ceremonial buildings surrounded by tranquil gardens and wooded areas, creating a serene atmosphere for visitors.
It is a shire as old as the Gyeongbokgung Palace, primarily known as a place of worship for the kings and queens; the shire is now a place of the royal memorial service. The shrine has been designated as a UNESCO world cultural heritage site because of how well it preserved its culture, services and music tradition.
The place now has an annual music ceremony that incorporates the songs and dances which originated over 500 years ago.
